Curious how top B2B Companies get found and grow fast?

Think “build it and they’ll come” is enough for your B2B SaaS? It’s not.

These days, anyone can launch a product, and the market is packed with similar solutions fighting for the same customers.

So how do you get noticed? It comes down to one thing: visibility. You need a smart SEO game plan that brings the right people straight to your door.

In this Embarque article, we’ll walk through real B2B SaaS SEO case studies that show how smart strategies (not luck) outranked rivals and grew the user base of SaaS companies.

If you want to learn what really works from others and how to apply it, you’re in the right place.

Why listen to us?

We get it: there’s a lot of noise out there about SEO. But at Embarque, we’ve been in the trenches with B2B SaaS companies, helping them grow real, lasting organic traffic.

From ranking clients in the top three Google results to increasing traffic by over 300% in under a year and driving thousands in revenue, we’ve seen what works (and what doesn’t) up close.

This article is based on those real experiences and focuses on highlighting proven methods that deliver real growth.

Understanding B2B SaaS SEO

B2B SaaS SEO is about helping software companies get found by the right businesses at the right time. But that doesn’t mean just throwing keywords on a blog post and hoping for clicks.

Instead, it’s a focused, strategic approach to showing up in search results when potential customers are actively looking for a solution like yours.

Unique B2B SaaS SEO challenges

Unlike B2C, B2B SaaS SEO comes with its own challenges:

  • You're targeting decision-makers, not casual browsers.
  • The sales cycle is longer and involves more stakeholders.
  • Your content needs to be both technically sound and easy to understand.
  • You're not just driving traffic, you’re nurturing leads and building trust over time.

That’s why SEO in this space needs to do more than rank. It needs to align with your actual business goals, whether you’re trying to generate high-quality leads, shorten the sales cycle, or help your product stand out in a crowded market.

So, how do case studies help with any of these? Let’s find out.

What’s the value of real SaaS SEO case studies?

Any SEO agency can promise results, but case studies show you what actually worked in the real world and why. They take the guesswork out of SEO by giving you examples you can learn from, borrow from, or even build on.

Key benefits include:

  • Spot common mistakes: Learn what didn’t work so you can avoid wasting time and money.
  • Borrow smart strategies: Use winning ideas from other companies and adapt them to your own goals.
  • Shorten your learning curve: Skip the slow trial-and-error phase and focus on what’s already been tested.
  • Stay sharp: SEO changes fast. Case studies show you how others are staying ahead, so you can too.

6 Detailed B2B SaaS SEO Case Studies with Valuable Insights

To show you what that actually looks like, let’s go through a few real B2B SaaS companies that used SEO to grow,  and exactly how they did it.

Here’s a summary of the case studies we’ll be reviewing.

Now, let’s look at each case in detail.

1. From 52 to 7,663 monthly visitors: How Embarque helped BlueTally achieve a 14,637% traffic increase

BlueTally offers asset management software, competing in a crowded market dominated by companies with massive marketing budgets and strong domain authority.

The challenge

When BlueTally came to us, they were getting just 52 organic visitors a month and had a Domain Rating of 4. Their low domain rating and lack of content authority made it tough to compete with bigger players. They had no clear content strategy and few keywords ranking, meaning very little organic traffic and leads.

In simple terms, they were not showing up in search results, despite having a solid product.

Our approach

To fix this, we designed a balanced SEO plan focused on long-term growth and quick wins:

  • Created blog content targeting specific, high-intent keywords and integration guides that their audience needed.
  • Built industry-focused landing pages for sectors like healthcare, education, and construction.
  • Optimized content for search visibility with strong titles, meta descriptions, internal links, and schema markup.
  • Focused on building 4-5 high-quality backlinks monthly from relevant sites with strong domain authority.

The results

After two years of steady work, BlueTally saw:

  • Organic traffic jumped from 52 to 7,663 monthly visitors, a 14,637% increase.
  • Domain Rating climbed from 4 to 33, unlocking better keyword opportunities.
  • Keyword rankings grow from 100 to 3,400, including 80 pages ranking in the top three positions.

What we learned

Working with BlueTally showed that:

  • SEO takes patience. It took six months to hit 463 visitors and two years to reach 7,600.
  • Quality content that answers real buyer questions drives traffic and rankings.
  • Consistent, high-quality link building is critical to improving domain authority and ranking for competitive terms.

2. How Embarque helped Growform boost conversions by focusing on user actions

Growform is a multistep form builder that helps businesses create engaging forms to capture leads and turn visitors into customers. When they came to us in April 2024, they had decent traffic, but visits weren’t turning into signups or paying customers.

The challenge

After an initial in-depth SEO audit, we found that most visitors were landing on top-of-funnel blog posts about form design and lead generation, but few were ready to buy.

The problem was clear: traffic wasn’t translating into real growth. Why? Because they lacked content targeting users actively searching for form builder solutions, and their signup and paid conversion rates weren’t keeping pace.

Our approach

Instead of chasing more traffic, we focused on three key user actions that show buying intent: reaching the signup page, entering the form builder, and selecting a paid plan. We:

  • Analyzed Growform’s user journeys to find where visitors dropped off and which pages could convert better.
  • Identified pages stuck on page 2 or 3 of Google and those with good traffic but weak conversions.
  • Improved key pages by building backlinks, refining internal links, updating content and meta tags, enhancing user experience, and adding new related content clusters to support conversion-focused pages.

The results

After 90 days:

  • Conversion rate from page views to trials hit 11.6%, meaning nearly 1 in 8 visitors took action.
  • Users reaching the signup page grew 18%.
  • Builder engagement increased 6.4%.
  • Domain Rating rose by 8 points to 63.
  • Non-branded keyword rankings grew by 355.

Traffic growth was modest, but user actions and signups surged.

What we learned

Among other things, we found that:

  • It’s more effective to focus on actions that indicate buying intent, not just traffic numbers.
  • Content aimed at users who are ready to buy outperforms general educational posts.
  • Optimizing entire user journeys beats optimizing pages in isolation.
  • Tracking user actions to see what truly drives growth.

3. How Embarque helped Instatus grow organic traffic by 1,500% and boost MRR by 833%

Instatus offers a lightweight, affordable status page tool in a market crowded with expensive, bloated options.

The challenge

When Instatus partnered with us in October 2021 as an experienced SEO agency, they had no SEO strategy. The founders hadn’t had time to focus on it. Meanwhile, competitors, like PagerDuty and Atlassian, leaned heavily on PPC, which was competitive and costly.

SEO was an untapped opportunity, especially since standalone status page tools were rare and often bundled in larger platforms.

Our approach

We started by identifying Instatus’ three key audiences: SaaS, developers, and DevOps. We saw that DevOps was underserved in content, so we focused there. We built content across four verticals:

  • DevOps (guides)
  • Status pages (alternatives, product lists)
  • Incident management (guides and lists)
  • Monitoring (guides and lists)

We targeted keywords that were low competition but had decent search volume, prioritizing terms DevOps professionals actually searched for, like “how to create a status page” and “incident triage.”

Although Instatus had a strong domain rating, we stuck with low-competition keywords to deliver quick wins.

The results

  • Organic traffic grew 1,536% in under two years.
  • Instatus ranks in the top five for 348 lucrative keywords, with a combined monthly search volume of over 88,000.
  • Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) increased 833% in less than a year.

What we learned

Working with Instatus showed that:

  • When paid ads get costly and crowded, SEO offers a valuable opportunity.
  • Prioritizing your target segments based on where you can stand out and serve content gaps is effective.
  • It’s crucial to build your content strategy systematically, focusing on strengths for long-term success.

4. How Embarque helped UXCam nearly double organic traffic and boost engagement in 6 months

UXCam offers mobile analytics tools that help product teams understand user behavior.

Before working with us, they tried several SEO agencies but kept hitting roadblocks. Either the content was too expensive, or it just didn’t perform.

The challenge

After a detailed audit, we found that their SEO content was low quality, lacked a clear focus, and didn’t build trust. As a result, their blog wasn’t bringing in the right visitors or turning them into leads. Growth had stalled.

Our approach

We overhauled their content strategy from the ground up. Instead of random blog posts, we focused on content that:

  • Targets people ready to buy (bottom-of-funnel queries)
  • Build trust and authority around UXCam’s expertise
  • Guides visitors through a clear, product-focused journey

To ensure relevance, we created a detailed ideal customer profile (ICP) for our writers. This helped craft content that truly resonated with UXCam’s audience.

The results

In just six months, UXCam’s organic traffic nearly doubled, from about 9,300 to over 17,000 visitors a month. Even better, this wasn’t just random traffic; these visitors were more engaged, which led to more signups.

See before…

See after…

Even better, UXCam confirmed they saw better lead generation, and they praised us for delivering great results without the big agency price tag.

What we learned

Working with UXCam showed us that:

  • Good SEO content doesn’t have to break the bank. We delivered superior results at a fraction of the cost compared to other agencies.
  • Building trust and authority is key to getting and keeping visitors.
  • Content that highlights your product as the solution converts better.

5. How we grew Flick’s annual organic visits to 9.6 million with strategic SEO

Flick is an Instagram hashtag manager and analytics tool used by agencies, social media managers, and content creators.

The challenge

When Flick first came to us, their main traffic came from hashtag generator pages. But the problem was this: people used those pages to get hashtags and then bounced right off.

The blog, on the other hand, converted way better… but hardly anyone was reading it.

So, Flick asked us to help grow their blog traffic and improve their overall SEO.

Our approach

We started with deep keyword research focused on Instagram growth topics like hashtags, analytics, and scheduling. Then we:

  • Created a content calendar targeting high-volume, low-competition keywords.
  • Produced in-depth, engaging blog posts optimized for Google and readers alike.
  • Updated older pages stuck on page two of Google to boost rankings quickly.
  • Improved site structure with smart internal linking to guide visitors toward sales pages.
  • We built quality backlinks by securing authoritative links each month.

All of these were done with regular meetings with Flick to align on strategy and progress.

The results

In under 12 months, Flick’s blog became their top traffic and conversion driver, with:

  • 9.6 million annual organic visits
  • Average blog time on page of 5 minutes (compared to 66 seconds industry average)
  • Domain Rating above 60

Most importantly, Flick said their rankings skyrocketed and blog traffic grew by 178% compared to the year before.

What we learned

Our collaboration with Flick revealed that:

  • Focusing on topics your audience cares about builds authority and grows traffic faster.
  • Quality backlinks help you climb Google’s ranks quickly.
  • Engaging content keeps visitors on your site longer, and more engaged visitors means more conversions.
  • Getting the right kind of traffic beats just chasing numbers.

6. How we took SignHouse from zero to 60,000 monthly visitors in 6 months

SignHouse is a SaaS platform that helps people create, send, and sign documents online, fast and without the bloat of legacy tools. They came to us shortly after launch, with no content, no SEO strategy, and no traffic.

The challenge

Because SignHouse was just getting started, there was no existing SEO foundation to build on. No blog, no backlinks, no rankings. But that presents a unique opportunity. A clean slate.

However, getting from zero to meaningful traffic, and doing it fast, required a clear strategy and tight execution.

Our approach

We built their SEO engine from scratch, with a focus on fast results and long-term growth. Here’s what we did:

  • We built a content plan around real search demand. We focused on keywords people actually search for, like eSignature use cases and contract templates.
  • Created high-converting blog content. Each post was designed to educate, solve a problem, and naturally highlight how SignHouse helps.
  • Targeted five core conversion pages. We identified the pages most likely to drive signups and we built a backlink strategy around them.
  • Published consistently. With clear brand guidelines and a smooth process, we shipped content fast without sacrificing quality.
  • Collaborated closely with the SignHouse team. Regular check-ins kept everything aligned, on-brand, and on track.

The results

In just 6 months, SignHouse went from invisible to a serious presence in the eSignature space:

  • 0 to 66k+ organic visitors/month
  • Traffic started compounding after just 2–3 months
  • Backlink profile scaled alongside traffic
  • An estimated 8–12 months of time saved, according to the client

What we learned

Working with SignHouse reinforced a few key lessons:

  • Starting from zero is an opportunity when you move fast and stay focused.
  • A tailored SEO strategy beats generic content every time.
  • High-quality, consistent output drives compounding results.
  • Strategic backlinks turn traffic into signups.

Common strategies that consistently worked

Across every successful campaign, from Flick to SignHouse to UXCam, a few strategies consistently drove results:

  • Content that mirrors the product

We always made sure the content wasn’t just informative but also product-led. Every article helped users solve a real problem, and naturally pointed them toward the tool.

  • Tied each post to a clear use case
  • Highlighted product benefits without sounding salesy
  • Prioritized helpful, actionable content
  • Targeting keywords that show intent

We didn’t chase traffic for the sake of it. Instead, we focused on queries that showed users were ready to act, whether they were comparing tools, searching templates, or looking for how-tos.

  • Prioritized bottom- and mid-funnel queries
  • Answered questions in a way that builds trust
  • Made the content better than what was already ranking
  • Iteration, always

No campaign was ever “set and forget.” We regularly updated posts, adjusted strategy based on performance, and synced closely with each client to stay aligned.

  • Refreshed content to maintain rankings
  • Used internal linking to boost key pages
  • Reassessed priorities based on traffic and conversion data

These three strategies helped every client we worked with grow faster and more efficiently.
