Labor costs: 40%

Capital costs: 5%

Linkbuilding prospecting and partnerships development: 42%

Professional development: 5%

Profits: 8%

This breakdown was calculated with data from our 2022 revenue numbers.

What do they mean?

Labor costs: These are related to hiring linkbuilders in 2022. They include the linkbuilders’ salaries, hiring costs, and onboarding costs.

Most of our hiring for linkbuilders is done in-house, which keeps our costs significantly lower.

Capital costs: These relate to how much we spent on tools for link building in 2022. Here, we include the tools link builders use to acquire links, including Ahrefs, Buzzstream, and Hunter.

They don’t include those we use for our day-to-day ops or client management, such as SPP, Slack, and Notion.

Linkbuilding prospecting and partnerships development: Our link building process consists of partnering up with freelancers and other agencies, in addition to traditional prospecting methods.

While this is the most expensive cost we have, partnerships allow us to acquire high-quality backlinks for a fraction of the price, and to scale our linkbuilding process.

For instance, we can charge $200 for a SaaS website link that other agencies normally charge $500-$750 for.

These significant cost savings are reflected in our current pricing.

Professional development: We prefer to promote internally and invest heavily in the professional development of our employees. This includes paying for courses, providing bonuses, and so on.

Profits: These are profits for our linkbuilding services. We either keep them to expand our runway or reinvest in marketing.
